Golden Rose Betting Update 2011

September 9th, 2011

The 2011 Golden Rose Betting race has almost deserved to be televised itself with fluctuations happening left right and centre throughout the field.

Given there are only six runners and with respect only five realistic hopes, it’s not surprising to see such big changes when one bet can have such an impact on a very specific pool.

To keep you up to date on all the latest develops we’ll take you through the 2011 Golden Rose betting race as seen on Luxbet and make some predictions as to what the odds may look like when the race jumps tomorrow afternoon.

2011 Golden Rose Betting

He opened at $4.40 fixed price and he’s been the horse receiving the most attention from punters over the last 48 hours. First his quote came into $3.90, then into $3.80 and it didn’t stop there now all the way into $3.60.  It may well keep going as well, we expect it to be shorter tomorrow morning but maybe ease slightly just before the race when some big bets flow in for Smart Missile.

Smart Missile

Speaking of the favourite his movements have been all northward since betting opened with few wanted to take a piece of the Run To The Rose winner. He opened at $1.85 and was quickly shifted to $1.90. The trend continued and he stepped out first to $1.95 and now $2.00, even money for a convincing last start victory.  Don’t expect to get anything more for him than that, in fact at this quote he’s likely to have a bit of attention from those who weren’t keen on odds on.  He’ll jump at unders tomorrow, all the experts tipping the smart money to flow in for him late.

He actually had a it of support early on in the piece but that hasn’t been enough to see any shift in his quote over the last 48 hours. Foxwedge opened at $9.00 and that’s where he remains, how long for is anyone’s guess. If it turns into a two horse race with the top two in punters minds he could be forgotten and drift to double figures but if people start listening to John O’Shea in he’ll come.

Throw him in the same boat as Foxwedge, in fact everything said above is virtually ditto for him. They may have different racing styles but the in terms of the betting race they follow a similar trend. The one noticeable difference though is that Manawanui was opened two points short at $7.00 with mere nibbles keeping that quote steady.

He was the drifter as a result of the Helmet plunge and at one stage he touched $11. That was quite a big drift given he opened at $8.50 and even more appealing given he’s won his last two. The ship has steadied slightly for him since then although there’s still a heap of value, $10 the current fixed price quote for Aeronautical.

If you’re a dreamer than your dream is getting richer and richer every second. Others would say it’s looking more and more unlikely every second. He opened at $41 and nobody wanted a bar of it, it went to $81 and nobody wanted any of that either, he’s now sitting at $101 and $26 to finish in the top two. I know one person who took some of that but she may well be the only one.
