Bachman To Contest 2014 Golden Rose First-Up

August 6th, 2014

A notable performer over his maiden racing preparation through the 2014 autumn, trainer Gerald Ryan has revealed exciting colt Bachman will contest the featured Group 1 Golden Rose Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill Gardens on September 13th first-up this campaign.

Returning to the spelling paddock after beating just a single runner home in the rain-affected Group 1 Champagne Stakes (1600m) on April 26th, Bachman more than staked his claims as one to watch over major three year-old events through spring via two impressive race wins and one minor places from just five starts.

Initially eyeing the Group 3 Run To The Rose (1200m) on August 30th as the first point of call, Ryan said the All American colt will likely continue on to appearances in the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m) and even the Group 1 Cox Plate (2040m) as he continues to seek a maiden victory at the highest level of Australian racing.

“He is going terrific,” Ryan told Racing Ahead.

“Bachman will trial on the 18th and then again a fortnight later and run first-up in the Golden Rose.

“He will go down and run in the Caulfield Guineas Prelude and the Caulfield Guineas.

“I said to Damian if you have a horse that has won a Caulfield Guineas, but isn’t entered in the Cox Pate you would be dirty you can’t get into it.

“You have the Norman Robinson now which is the week after and the Vase.

“There are options for him and he is a horse that I have always had a lot of time for.”

Unlucky to be blocked for a run and fourth in the Listed Canonbury Stakes (1100m) on debut in February, the colt out of Ain’t Seen Nothin’ finished third amongst classy competition in the Australian Turf Club Maiden (1200m) before securing back-to-back victories in the TAB Ipad App 2.y.o (1300m) and Group 3 The Schweppervescence (1400m) prior to the Champagne Stakes.
