2014 Golden Rose Order of Entry Updated

August 18th, 2014

Following a weekend of notable three-year-olds lead-up events, the order of entry for the featured Group 1 Golden Rose (1400m) to be run at Rosehill Gardens on September 13th has be altered noticeably.

The feature race at Royal Randwick on Saturday, the Group 3 San Domenico Stakes (1100m) results has led to notable movement, namely via winner Nostradamus, who is now perched in position 22 behind Godolphin runner Kumaon, who is poised for a return to racing in this weekend’s Up And Coming Stakes (1300m).

Charging home to finish second by half-a-length, Washington Heights has interesting maintained position 44, while third-placed Law has jumped up three spots to position 25; leap-frogging fellow hopefuls Bachman, Deiheros and Press Report.

The Group 3 Quezette Stakes (1100m) for three-year-old fillies at Caulfield Racecourse saw outsider Sabatini overcome a talented field to claim without doubt her biggest victory to date, and while not holding a Golden Rose nomination of her own, was responsible for seeing clear race favourite Royal Snitzel drop two places to now feature in position 33, while fourth place-getter London Lolly is close to assuring her position; currently ranked 17th.

While all defeated by rank outsider Get The Nod in the Group 3 Vain Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield, Boomwaa, Zululand, Jabali and Cornrow have each maintained their status within the 2014 Golden Rose order of entry top 15; ranked eighth (Cornrow), ninth (Zululand), twelfth (Boomwaa) and 13th (Jabali).

Yet to be confirmed for a racing return after being struck down with a virus over the last three weeks, 2014 Golden Slipper champion Mossfun maintains top spot in the Golden Rose order of entry, while Earthquake (position 2) and Bring Me The Maid (position 4) will be offered the chance to move upon resuming in this weekend’s Group 2 Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m) at Royal Randwick.

Leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au is currently offering the best early odds on the 2014 Golden Rose Stakes, for which J.J. Atkins champion Almalad (position 5) shares $8 favouritism with Nostradamus. Brazen Beau (position 7) currently features on the second line of betting.
