2014 Golden Rose Betting Update

September 10th, 2014

A talented field of fifteen three-year-olds have been confirmed to line up for this weekend’s featured Group 1 Golden Rose (1400m) at Rosehill Gardens, offering punters exceptional value from a betting point of view and several key opportunities to place a winning wager.

Having returned to racing in typically excellent form this season, talented Peter Moody-trained filly Bring Me The Maid has opened as and maintained status as outright favourite for success in Golden Rose betting markets, currently available at $3.80 odds with Ladbrokes.com.au.

Securing a close win in the Listed Sports 1000 (1000m) on debut on March 1st, Bring Me The Maid was unlucky to be blocked for a run and third in the Listed St Albans Stakes (1200m) less than two weeks later, but responded in the best way possible when charging home to win the Group 2 Magic Night Stakes (1200m) on March 29th.

Returning to the paddock after finishing an impressive third in the major Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m), the Sebring filly stamped her claims as a leading Golden Rose contender with a commanding two length victory in the Group 2 Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m) first-up on August 23rd.

Allocated the ideal barrier 6, punters have already flocked around Bring Me The Maid to win the 2014 Golden Rose, seeing her quote cut in from close to $5 to currently register as clear market mover at current odds.

Taking a slight hit when allocated the somewhat wide and awkward barrier 14, Bart and James Cummings-trained Hallowed Crown is yet to experience much more than a sprinkling of bets for success in 2014 Golden Rose betting markets but has maintained status as outright $5.50 second-favourite.

Yet to be defeated over an impressive three race career-start, Hallowed Crown won the TAB Early Quaddie Plate (1150m) on debut on March 26th before more-than announcing his presence when charging home to beat a quality field in the Group 3 Kindergarten Stakes (1100m) on April 12th.

Returning to the track for another comfortable win in the Group 3 Run To The Rose (1200m) on August 30th, James Cummings revealed he is confident Hallowed Crown has the class to replicate 2013 champion Zoustar’s run from the outside lane.

Another Peter Moody-trained galloper confirmed for the 2014 Golden Rose Stakes, Better Land will be partnered by jockey Blake Shinn for the first time competitively this weekend and currently offers punters great value for money at even $7 odds.

Winning a minor at Sale convincingly on debut, the Shamardal colt returned to racing for a close second in the Listed Rosebud (1200m) on August 9th before finishing a luckless fourth when blocked for a run in the final straight of the Group 3 Up And Coming Stakes (1300m) on August 23rd.

Interestingly figuring as the only other Golden Rose entrants current offered at odds of less-than $10 for success, Almalad ($8) is well and truly worth consideration for success having won the Group 1 J.J. Atkins (1600m) over winter, while Nostradamus ($8) will leave from the ideal barrier 3.
