September 9th, 2015

Tommy Berry is thrilled to have picked up the ride on Gold Symphony in Saturday’s Group 1 Golden Rose (1400m) at Rosehill Gardens, and is confident the in-form colt is in-line to produce a career-best effort to date in the feature race.

Gold Symphony is yet to finish outside the first three through his four start career so far, and will be seeking a third-consecutive win in the 2015 Golden Rose having produced two particularly impressive efforts to win a pair of black type races in Melbourne through recent weeks.

Berry is yet to partner the talented son of Reward For Effort through competitively, but believes the feel offered up by the three-year-old through recent work indicates he will be at his best over the 1400m running distance of the 2015 Golden Rose.

“He’s a beautiful horse. He has a lot of presence about him and he does his work very easily,” Berry told AAP.

“It looks like he is a horse who is going to get better once he gets to 1400 (metres) and even a mile and he’s going to get that on Saturday.”

Gold Symphony did not show an awful lot in his trials prior to making a competitive debut in the Land Engineering Maiden Plate (1200m) at Mornington on July 2nd, but more than stamped himself as a horse to follow when producing an impressive late kick to win the race by two comfortable lengths.

Progressing to a close second behind notable filly Jalan Jalan in the Flemington Family Handicap (1200m) on July 18th, Gold Symphony jumped from the gates well in his black type debut; the Group 3 Vain Stakes (1100m) on August 15th and was allowed to stride forward by jockey Glen Boss and settle on the heels of the race’s early leaders.

Weaving through a few tight gaps to take the lead in the last 200m and post an impressive half-length win, the colt out of Tzaress led from start to finish in the Group 3 McNeil Stakes (1200m) last time out on August 29th; maintaining another strong late sprint to hit the line ahead of Ready For Victory and Demonstrate. is currently offering the best 2015 Golden Rose odds, for which Gold Symphony arguably offers punters the best value for money at a current quote of $19 for success or $4.60 to finish in the first three.
