2015 Golden Rose Tips and Betting Preview

September 10th, 2015

Only eight runners remain in contention for Saturday’s featured Group 1 Golden Rose (1400m) at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse following the scratching of Gold Symphony on Friday morning; offering punters exceptional value from a betting standpoint and several key opportunities to place a winning wager.

Exosphere ($3) has remained outright favourite in 2015 Golden Rose Stakes betting markets at Ladbrokes.com.au all week, ahead of Group 1 winner Press Statement ($3.20) and clear market mover Speak Fondly ($4.40).

Will Exosphere justify favouritism and win the 2015 Golden Rose, or will one of his talented rivals find the line in the clear?

1st

Press Statement ($3.20)

The only winner at the highest level confirmed in the Golden Rose final field, Press Statement will have taken priceless condition from a first-up run for second in the Group 2 Run To The Rose (1200m) a fortnight ago and is sure to lay a great account for himself from barrier 3. Winning a pair of Sydney minor sprints upon debuting to racing in late autumn, the Hinchinbrook colt produced a huge turn of foot to take out the Group 1 JJ Atkins (1600m) on June 6th and will relish a step-up to 1400m on Saturday.

2nd

Shards ($11)

Shards is one of three Godolphin runners confirmed in the 2015 Golden Rose final field, carries winning form into the race and is sure to be boosted by the addition of Hong Kong hoop Joao Moreira to the saddle this weekend. Yet to finish outside the places in four competitive starts, the Medaglia D’oro colt broke through for a maiden win in the TAB.com.au Handicap (1350m) on June 13th before making a successful transition to black type racing in winning the Group 3 Up And Coming Stakes (1300m) on August 22nd.

3rd

Speak Fondly ($4.40)

The only filly set to contest the Golden Rose, Speak Fondly has returned to racing in exceptional form this time, will carry a race-low 54.5kgs and is a leading chance to finish in the first three on Saturday. The winner of the Group 2 Magic Night Stakes (1200m) most notably in autumn, Speak Fondly returned this time for success in the Group 2 Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m) before taking out the Group 2 Furious Stakes (1200m) last weekend. Brett Prebble has been confirmed to take the ride on Speak Fondly in the 2015 Golden Rose, who will leave from barrier 4.
