2015 Golden Rose to Suit Let’s Make It Rain

September 10th, 2015

Jockey Tim Clark is thrilled to have picked the ride on outsider Let’s Make It Rain in Saturday’s 2015 Golden Rose (1400m) at Rosehill Gardens, and is confident the conditions of the race coupled with the colt’s running style will make for a winning combination.

Let’s Make It Rain has finished outside the first three only once through his six start career so far; posting one win and a further four minors leading into what will undoubtedly be his toughest task to date in Saturday’s 2015 Golden Rose.

Confident the Not A Single Doubt colt’s ability to lead and set a good pace in transit will suit the 2015 Golden Rose Stakes conditions, Clark told The Daily Telegraph he believes the three-year-old is capable of overcoming his tag as rank outsider and salute for trainer Ron Quinton.

“In 2011 it was a six-horse field and everyone said Smart Missile with his devastating turn of foot,” Clark said.

“Some were saying Helmet could drag his sprint out but in the end Glyn (Schofield) won the race by taking Manawanui to the lead and kicking away in the straight.

“I think in these small fields tactics play a major role and sometimes the best horse doesn’t always win.

“Everyone’s going to have to be on their A-game.”

More than capable of carrying 56.5kgs to success in the 2015 Golden Rose, Clark is confident Let’s Make It Rain will have no issue in overcoming barrier 8.

“This bloke has done nothing wrong this prep, is super fit and can be ridden any way you like,” Clark said.

“Last start he lumped a big weight and was very strong when second to Wudang Mountain.”

Finishing in the minors through a pair of minor Sydney sprints upon debuting to racing late last year, Let’s Make It Rain clearly needed the run when seventh in the McGrath Estate Agents Handicap (1200m) first-up on July 4th but progressed to success in a Canterbury minor over 1250m on July 25th.

Boxing on for third in the Listed Rosebud (1200m) in his only other start prior to his recent second, Let’s Make It Rain is currently available at a particularly generous quote of $31 for success in 2015 Golden Rose betting markets with Ladbrokes.com.au.
