Peter and Paul Snowden have included nineteen runners in 2016 Golden Rose Stakes first acceptances, undoubtedly highlighted by standout colt Capitalist.

Capitalist immediately stamped himself as a colt to follow upon debuting to racing for a three length win in the Listed Breeders’ Plate (1000m) in early October, and repeated the dose in the Wyong Magic Millions 2.y.o Classic (1100m) second up on December 17th; returning to the paddock after taking out the Gold Coast Magic Millions 2.y.o Guineas (1200m) on January 9th.

Clearly requiring a run when second in the Group 2 Todman Stakes (1200m) upon resuming in autumn, the Written Tycoon colt produced a typically impressive turn of foot to comfortably win the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m) most recently on March 19th.

Having trialled well at Randwick last week, Team Snowden are looking towards the Group 2 Run To The Rose (1200m) in August as a possible second point of call for Capitalist in spring.

A Group 1 winner over the distance, Yankee Rose has also been confirmed in 2016 Golden Rose first acceptances.

Purchased for only $10,000, Yankee Rose stormed onto the Australian racing scene with a commanding performance to win the Viridian Lightbridge Plate (1100m) on debut before repeating the dose in the Golden Gift (1100m) on November 21st.

Given little chance of success in the Golden Slipper first-up this year, the All American filly produced an impressive turn of foot to run on for a close second behind Capitalist, in what was her only other competitive start prior to breaking through for a maiden win at the highest level in the Group 1 ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) on Day 1 of The Championships.

Unlucky to be forced back into the paddock with a couple of minor hoof issues, trainer David Vandyke has been pleased with the filly’s growing condition in the lead-up to her 2016 Golden Rose campaign.

Winner of the final leg of the autumn two-year-old Triple Crown, Prized Icon has also been confirmed in Golden Rose first acceptances by trainer James Cummings.

Posting two wins and five minors through seven career starts so far, Prized Icon returned to racing in autumn for third in the More Than Winning Plate (1000m) at Randwick on January 23rd before placing second in the Listed Lonhro Plate (1100m).

Running third in the Group 3 Black Opal Stakes (1100m) in Canberra, the More Than Ready colt ran second in the Group 3 The Schweppervescence (1400m) before taking out each of the Listed Fernhill Handicap (1600m) and Group 1 Champagne Stakes (1600m) most recently.

A number of Godolphin runners have also been confirmed in Golden Rose 2016 first acceptances, including Telperion and Astern.
