Boom colt Menari has returned to racing in outstanding condition and devastating form this time and is set to jump a resounding favourite in 2017 Golden Rose betting markets at Ladbrokes.com.au; currently occupying the top line at a $2 quote ahead of Pariah ($6) and Merchant Navy ($8.50).

Will Menari continue his undefeated run of Spring Carnival form through the Golden Rose, or will one of his rivals secure an upset?

1st

Pariah ($6)

Pariah has returned to racing in typically strong form this time and appears as though he will only improve when stepping out to 1400m in the 2017 Golden Rose. The Redoute’s Choice colt showed plenty of ability as a two-year-old throughout the recent Autumn Carnival; winning the Group 3 Canonbury Stakes (1100m) and finishing a close second in the Group 1 Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) most notably. Trialling exceptionally well in the lead-up to his spring campaign, Pariah resumed for a dominant win in the Group 3 San Domenico Stakes (1100m) first-up and chased home Menari to finish second in the Group 2 The Run To The Rose (1200m) a fortnight ago. Blake Shinn retains the ride, but the horse will require some early luck from an awkward draw.

2nd

Menari ($2)

Menari has furnished into an outstanding horse as a three-year-old and on ability alone, could easily win the Golden Rose. The Snitzel colt was also a smart performer as a two-year-old and after finishing second behind Pariah in the Canonbury Stakes, was third past the post in the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m), before being relegated to fourth on protest. Menari has been nothing short of dominant via his two wins in the Listed The Rosebud (1100m) and The Run To The Rose this time in, however jockey Josh Parr did comment that several of the horse’s features suggest that he is best suited to 1200m, and there is subsequently something of a query over whether or not he will get the 1400m trip.

3rd

Champagne Cuddles ($20)

One of only two fillies in the Golden Rose field, Champagne Cuddles has returned to racing in smart form this time, will have conditions to suit in Saturday’s feature race and is over the odds at her current $20 quote to win, or $4.80 to finish in the first three. A comfortable winner of her first two career starts, the Not A Single Doubt filly made a competitive transition to black type company when she savaged the line for third in the Group 2 Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m) and was unlucky not to beat Formality in the Group 2 Furious Stakes (1200m) on September 2nd. Last seen running on for second in the Group 2 Light Fingers Stakes (1400m), Champagne Cuddles is drawn to find a good position behind the early pace from a central draw.
